Ushering consists of taking tickets at the doors (most events) and directing people to their seats. There is no heavy lifting and it gives us an opportunity to meet other people from other classes, and even get to know our own classmates better.
 

All events are at McFarlin Auditorium on the campus of Southern Methodist University. The address is 6405 Boaz Lane.  The best way to get there is to get on Hillcrest and turn on McFarlin Blvd. The parking is on the west side of the building.

Arrive at the time indicated on the sign up sheet.  "Church" or business attire for women and suits or slacks and sport coats with ties for men are the appropriate dress. For most events ushering lasts a total of about three hours.

Parking is a challenge near McFarlin, but we are allowed to park  behind the auditorium (space available).  If the lot is full, proceed around the auditorium to the large parking lot and walk back to McFarlin.  Enter main entrance and turn left up stairwell.  Meeting room is on the left at top of stairs.  There will be other FUMC members there and an SMU employee will instruct you. 

If you make arrangements with your fellow ushers to meet beforehand, you can get great food at Peggy Sue's Barbeque at Daniel and Hillcrest.  It's the best and they have great veggies and Fried Pies!  They can get you out in less than an hour.
 

A sign-up sheet is passed around each Sunday when ushers are needed, and you can sign up at that time. Or you can call or email Deniece & Donald.
